Happenings
At the behest of the Michigan Humanities Council, I was recently honored to conduct a workshop at North Branch High School.
I worked with a dozen students as they prepared to compete in Poetry Out Loud, a national recitation contest sponsored by The Poetry Foundation and The National Endowment for the Arts.
Saturday, March 8th, the Poetry Out Loud state finals are being held at our State Library and Historical Center, 303 Kalamazoo St., Lansing. The time is 1:00 til 4:00 PM. You will be treated to some of the best readings of your life.
Coming up on April 16th, The Sanilac District Library will be having a poetry reading in Port Sanilac from 6 til 8 PM. I will be one of the featured poets, and an open mic session will be held afterwards. Contact the library for more details. 810-622-8623.
On Monday, Aril 21st, I will be at the public library in Memphis, Michigan, leading a slam poetry workshop for high school students from 6 to 8 PM. Info available by calling Judy Weaver at 810-392-2980.
