Members from The Guild of Outsider Writers will be reading in Chicago, at Quimby's Bookstore on Saturday evening, August 23'rd and at The Green Mill on Sunday, August 24'th.

Justin Hyde, the winner of OW's recent book contest, will be reading as well as OW members Cicily Janus and David Blaine

Quimby's is at 1854 W. North Ave.

The Green Mill is at 4802 N. Broadway

Events begin at 7:00 PM each night.

Happenings

At the behest of the Michigan Humanities Council, I was recently honored to conduct a workshop at North Branch High School.

I worked with a dozen students as they prepared to compete in Poetry Out Loud, a national recitation contest sponsored by The Poetry Foundation and The National Endowment for the Arts.

Saturday, March 8th, the Poetry Out Loud state finals are being held at our State Library and Historical Center, 303 Kalamazoo St., Lansing. The time is 1:00 til 4:00 PM. You will be treated to some of the best readings of your life.

Coming up on April 16th, The Sanilac District Library will be having a poetry reading in Port Sanilac from 6 til 8 PM. I will be one of the featured poets, and an open mic session will be held afterwards. Contact the library for more details. 810-622-8623.

On Monday, Aril 21st, I will be at the public library in Memphis, Michigan, leading a slam poetry workshop for high school students from 6 to 8 PM. Info available by calling Judy Weaver at 810-392-2980.
